More Than One Night

“Considering this is Nicole Leiren’s debut book, I was amazed at how well it is written. It resonated with me because growing up, like Melodie, I was always in the shadow of my older sister, so I totally recognize and sympathized with how she felt. (Unlike Evelyn, my sister did everything to make me feel I was my own person, not a copy, to the point of always fighting for and with me against Mom’s wishes.)

This is a beautiful story of two “broken” people who found each other and struggled to accept each other’s weaknesses and by holding to each other through all the problems encountered on their journey to a HEA fairy tale ending, found the strength to accept love and everything that comes with it.“

“I enjoyed this book immensely because the characters were totally relatable, and I could easily imagine myself in the heroine’s place-for the most part-sans the extremely uptight and overachieving older sister. The first meeting between Melodie and Daniel (heretofore to be known as “Mel” and “Dan”) was very fun to read, and it set a pleasurable tone for the rest of their journey. Ah, the journey. Fraught with exasperating family members, loss, emotional baggage, past relationships-you know-”real life” stuff.
Author Nicole spun the tale such that the reader could viscerally feel the pull of attraction between the couple. Early in the story I was captivated by their budding romance and seriously wanted them to get serious about it-like… right now! Lol!
Let me add right here that I am a HUGE supporter of our military and vets, so this story captivated my heart early on. Dan is a great guy, but a responsible one as well. Careful about giving his heart away, he takes great pains to make certain that Mel is the one for him. Insert past relationships, a child, and PTSD here. Mel herself is nursing a heartbreak over the loss of a military fiancee and wants to break through her mourning by taking a fun trip-and ends up meeting Dan. Insert an overbearing mother and totally high-strung older sister and you have misery ad infinitum.
My favorite part of the book was when Dan devises a plan to get her family off her back and it’s a brilliant and flawless one. This novel should be made into a movie just so that I can see the actors’ faces when he drops his bomb.“

““More Than One Night” is a contemporary romance where Melodie–an introverted children’s librarian–finds herself in the arms of Daniel, who is the type of man she never pictured herself with. He is not “comfortable,” and finally deciding to break out of her shell, she dares to pursue a relationship with him.

The opening of this book grabbed my attention immediately; I never saw it coming! I thoroughly enjoyed the tension that the characters created, especially when Daniel’s daughter and Melodie’s sister began to play a more prominent role in the story. The romance scenes are just enough for the imagination without going over the top, and I think the entire book is well-written and was thoroughly enjoyable to read. It’s a great book with real-life situations that bring the reader into the characters’ world.“

“Nicole Leiren’s debut novel, More Than One Night, is fantastic! I love a military hero, and Daniel did not disappoint. Totally male with all the rough-around-the-edges qualities that entails, Daniel is also a devoted father. I loved him all the more for that.

Melodie is having a crisis of sorts when the book starts and desperately needs someone to appreciate her for who she is. It takes her a while to figure out that Daniel is that someone, but she eventually gets there and becomes a stronger person because of his belief in her. When they learn to stand together – watch out!

This is such an enjoyable book, I couldn’t put it down. Now I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!“

“This is one of the best books I have read, by far! Talk about being sucked into a story from the very beginning and not wanting to put it down at all until the very end…. The story and the characters were well developed. Melodie and Daniel’s story brought out so many different emotions from me. I loved their story as well as I did the both of them. It was on the emotional side and I was glad I keep a box of tissues by my recliner. I fell in love with Annie, Daniel’s 8 yr old daughter and Jason, Melodie’s 7 year old nephew. They had me laughing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it’s one I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
