As a consultant with a "big four" firm, Peter specialized in corporate reconstructions, recoveries, and liquidations. Depending on the circumstances, he was a surgeon chopping away excess fat, a lifeguard giving mouth to mouth resuscitation, or a funeral director conducting burials.
As a forensic investigator and expert witness, he testified in the courts about the reasons for corporate collapses and whether directors had breached their duties.
Later he became CEO of one of his recovery clients, Australia's largest heavy transport equipment designer and manufacturer, which he successfully floated as a public company.
He has a background well suited to writing corporate and crime thrillers. In 2012, the Fellowship of Australian Writers commended him for his novel about unconventional gas, Dirty Fracking Business.
